I am Monika Kumari, a GSoC 2026 applicant interested
in the Indirect Transforms project.

What I have done so far:

• Set up the matplotlib development environment
• Studied the transform machinery in transforms.py
• Studied the Annotation class in text.py
• Read issue #22223 about IndirectTransform
• Opened my first PR #31367
  (DOC: Add thumbnail for font_indexing gallery example)

My understanding of the project:
The goal is to factor out coordinate system logic
from the Annotation class into a reusable
IndirectTransform(func: Callable[[] Transform]) class,
so that relative positioning is available to all
artists, not just annotations.

I have some questions for mentors:

1. Is my understanding of the project correct?
