Hi, I’m Ayush Kumar, a 3rd-year undergraduate at IIIT Sonepat. I’m interested in working on the Overlay layer API for interactive backends project for GSoC. I’ve started exploring matplotlib’s drawing pipeline and event handling (FigureCanvasBase, blitting, and Cursor) to understand the current redraw limitations. I plan to experiment with a small prototype crosshair overlay and would appreciate any guidance on where to begin or which backends to focus on first.
